Postcards: From lunch in Portscatho to Pure in Marrakech

Wins, plans, recommendations and learnings from the past week…

We finally made it to The Rosevine for lunch with the nieces.  The hotel is set on the Roseland Peninsula not far from Portscatho and a short stroll down the lane to beautiful Porthcurnick Beach. What’s more it ticks both the child friendly and dog friendly boxes, and the staff were more than happy to have us hanging out in the hotel and lovely gardens after lunch. There were games on the lawn for the girls, a climbing frame and goal posts at the bottom of the garden for a raucous football match.

Back at the desk, The Talland Bay Hotel got a rave review from luxury lifestyle blog, Lussorian. Having recently been rated 9/10 by the Telegraph, the hotel also received an invitation to appear in the exclusive offers section of the paper, website and glossy September reader favourite hotels supplement.

We had a recce at the hotel with Kite Vision. Adam and Charlotte are super excited to be working their aerial video making magic on behalf of the Talland Bay. There were two further meetings to round off the day. One with Mark Camp from Visit Cornwall to discuss the upcoming South East Cornwall Walking Festival, and interview him for the Talland Bay Hotel blog. And one with Steve Dustow from Colwith Farm/ Aval Dor, to discuss gin (more details to follow soon).

I’ve been asked to represent St Helena Tourism at Pure in Marrakech in September on behalf of Keene. This has led to a flurry of flight and hotel bookings. Rather unusual to be doing it for myself rather than a journalist. I can’t wait. I was last in Marrakech in 2013 visiting our client Marrakech Riad and checking out their newest property, Riad Star. I’m looking forward to seeing more of the ‘Red City’ and attending Pure for the first time.

We listened to Janet Murray’s excellent Soulful PR Podcast episode on using LinkedIn to grow your business. It turns out it’s much more complicated than you think, and could be a fantastic resource for promoting yourself and what you do.
