Spring scribblings: TV, trains and tourists

Latest wins, recommendations and happenings…

Much as we’ve enjoyed the peace and quiet, it’s been fantastic to see Newquay and Cornwall come to life with wall-to-wall sunshine and the start of the season in earnest.  This fresh, spring energy has had an impact at work too and we’re looking forward to fresh projects and collaborations ahead.

A winning pitch and on-going liaison with the Telegraph on behalf of KBC led to a press trip for deputy travel editor, Adrian Bridge to cover the 150th anniversary of the USA’s transcontinental railway meeting in Utah. The resulting double page spread reminded me why I love my job.

We’ve also been delighted to be associated with client wins, including Colwith Farm Distillery’s Aval Dor Vodka being awarded Silver at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

March saw us both heading to London for the premier of a good friend’s film at the Curzon in Mayfair, Children of the Snowland. The realisation of a lifetime’s dream and a massive amount of hard graft.

Back at home and there’s been a fair bit of entertaining family visiting Cornwall, with the chance to visit favourite haunts and discover new spots. The Harbour Fish & Grill being one of these, a great place to enjoy the views over a full Cornish breakfast or fish and chip lunch. As well as the gorgeous Open Surf at Wheel Kitty, St Agnes. There have been plenty of trips to the re-opened Pavilion Bakery and Fern Pit Café too.

In the press…

Marrakech Riad has been enjoying a glut of great media coverage, with reviews appearing in national magazine titles including Bella, Prima and Woman’s Weekly. The Valley meanwhile has featured in round-ups in The Times and Prima along with great digital content from collaborations with the likes of Tin Box Traveller and Steph and the Spaniels.

Talland Bay Hotel has appeared in the Daily Mail and alongside Colwith Farm Distillery in a lovely write up by Sophie Farrah of the Essential Surrey magazine titles.

The highlight of the year so far was seeing the collaboration between two clients feature on primetime TV. Watch the More4 Devon and Cornwall episode starring Colwith Farm Distillery and Talland Bay Hotel.

A truly inspirational Q&A session with Simon Cohen at the Canteen at Wheal Kitty, St Agnes organised by the Marketing Forum asked attendees to systemise self-reflection. “The role of PR is to extract the extra-ordinary out of people,” said Simon.

A Business from the Heart workshop meanwhile gave the excuse to visit the lovely Botelet to eat a nourishing breakfast, discuss how to be more mindful in business and meditate. Many thanks to Nell of the Benevolent Business, Tia and Richard of Botelet and Joey of Horizon Inspired.
