October scribblings: Bricks, mortar and Butch Cassidy

This month’s wins, recommendations and happenings…

October has seen us knuckling down to some new exciting projects. I’ve been getting to grips with Utah’s Mighty 5 National Parks, Butch Cassidy and the Greatest Snow on Earth on a project for KBC PR. And closer to home, have kick-started a PR campaign for luxury self-catering resort, The Valley.

This past couple of months has also seen a welcome return to Africa as I’ve teamed back up with the Zambezi Safari & Travel Company to drive their email campaigns.

We were super excited to take possession of keys to our new flat in Newquay a month ago, swapping tent and caravan life for bricks and mortar. It still feels very surreal being able to see the sea every day and commuting past Fistral Beach.

There have been some great work-related collaborations with Cornish Wine Tours, Cornwall 365 and Seasalt. And it was brilliant to make new connections and catch up with familiar faces at a Samphire Club lunch here in Newquay at the Headland Hotel.

In the press…

Talland Bay Hotel was included in a Times ‘Cool Country Hotel Guide’ naming the UK’s 30 best places to stay; as well as making a splash in luxury Sphere magazine’s round-up of top holidays on a drinks theme (with a mention for Colwith Farm Distillery too).

The Moorland Garden Hotel meanwhile was described as “marvellous”, “a great base to discover the delights of Dartmoor” following a visit by the South Wales Argus.

Newquay Business Week brought together some excellent speakers, with the chance to hear from the likes of Matthew Thomson of Fifteen and engage in topics from sustainable business to Spaceport Cornwall.

One great takeaway was David McGuire of Radix’s ‘five brutal questions’ to transform your content marketing, from accuracy through empathy to wizardry. A brilliant refresher for those of us working day in day out with words.
